Part 5: Eat More, Not Less

Guilt. Shame. The overwhelming feeling of failure. All combined with clothes that fit a little more snug than usual or just don’t fit at all anymore.

Can you relate?

If so, you probably are also familiar with what happens next. You know, when you make up your mind that you are really going to get yourself on track and watch what you eat.

And .. in watching what you eat you begin to cut out the quantity of food you eat because the world has convinced you that the MORE you eat the MORE you gain and the LESS you eat the Less you weigh.

Friend, this is nothing more than a frustrating and dead-end strategy that won’t help you lose the weight you want to lose AND keep it off. In fact, it will most likely lead to another failed attempt at weight loss and another heap of shame and guilt to add to the pile you’ve already collected.

What if I told you that you don’t have to cut back on your food intake to lose weight?

What if you could EAT MORE and NOT LESS and STILL LOSE WEIGHT?

Well, you can!

It’s true! I know it sounds whacky, but it really is true, and I’ll tell you why!

As women, we have the tendency to get so caught up in what the world’s diet gurus say about weight loss that we forget about how God made our bodies and what He says about these temples we roam around in.

Stop Trying to Eat Less

Yes, this advice sounds like it is contrary to your weight loss goal. In actuality, eating less is the true contrary culprit to your weight loss goal.

Eating less has two primary outcomes, and neither of these are welcomed friends.

  • Slows down your metabolism
  • Makes your weight loss journey miserable

That’s right! I bet you are familiar with both of these concepts.

You cut back your calories and believe you will see the number on the scale move. Instead, it typically stalls and won’t budge another inch … but if you eat any less you wouldn’t be able to feed a bird. And you’re hungry and feel deprived and probably a little left out when it comes to mealtime with family and friends.

Your body’s reaction to cutting back on food is to conserve food because it thinks it’s starving … it kicks into survival mode, not knowing you are just trying to scale back on the scale. It’s a vicious cycle and it doesn’t feel good in the process.

Eat More

More advice that sounds … well … crazy.

Friend, God created your body to desire food. He created your temple to NEED food. He created your body to function on food intake, so it has the nutrition to fuel all the wonderful things He created you to do in your life.

God NEVER intended for you to starve yourself. He NEVER intended for you to walk around carrying shame and insecurity in your heart about your weight and your body.

He created you to be strong, mighty, and powerful!

So, when I say EAT MORE, NOT LESS, I mean just that.

Eat MORE of the food that is closer to God’s hands, rather than the food that comes from man’s hands.

How does this help in the weight loss process?

Simply put, if you fill and fuel your body with MORE of the food God created food from the ground that doesn’t require processing, your body is naturally built to break those foods down. In response to filling and fueling your body with these foods, your body metabolizes them easier and leads to weight loss - all while avoiding the cycle of starving yourself.

As your metabolism begins to rev up and your body begins to burn more, the weight loss process becomes a natural occurrence and will eventually fall into maintenance when your body has hit a healthy weight.

How would you feel if you knew you could fill your body WITHOUT constantly worrying about how much you are eating and WITHOUT feeling deprived and left out all the time?

What would it be like to cast off the guilt and shame you carry around and pick up a healthy and confident demeanor?

You can, because weight loss is possible. Eating more, not less is possible and effective.
