Mistakes are Key to Weight Loss Success

What?

That has to be wrong! Right?

I mean, how could mistakes possibly be an important part of losing weight and keeping it off successfully?

Friend, you’ve been inundated with the message that making mistakes on your weight loss journey is the bitter end … the end all … an utmost failure on your part.

With this belief you have tried countless diets, prepared food according to what the pros tell you to do, created a structure around the foods you eat, the amount you eat, the times you eat etc.

You’ve even managed to shed a few pounds along the way and carve down on some inches.

It feels great!

You are well on your journey …

… until life happens …

You know, your schedule gets busy, daily stresses grow to an overwhelming high, there are celebrations to enjoy or losses to mourn and somehow you have found yourself making a mistake and breaking some golden rules on your weight loss journey.

This mistake makes you feel so guilty you end up falling into the cycle and spiral of self-sabotage and find yourself having gained all the weight back you worked so hard to lose.

Mistakes don’t have to represent failure any longer.

In fact, mistakes are good, and you don’t have to be afraid of making them.

They can actually help you along your journey!

Mistakes Help You Learn to Lean into God

You are human. Humans naturally make mistakes.

God made you that way.

God wants you to invite Him into your weight loss journey.

He wants you to lean into Him for the help you need to get the vessel He gave you into the healthiest possible shape it can be in, so you have the energy and strength you need to do the work He has called you to do.

When you make mistakes when trying to lose weight, ask God to help you, strengthen you, and reveal to you what is going on below the surface that needs to be worked on.

Mistakes open up the opportunity for you to learn that your health journey is about so much more than counting stringent meal plans and tracking calories.

You have the opportunity to invite God into your journey, grow closer to God, lean on God’s grace, and learn to uncover some of the deeply rooted issues beneath that drive your food patterns.

Mistakes Help You Overcome Self-Sabotage

Most women can relate to the cycle of self-sabotage.

It usually starts with eating a cookie that wasn’t on your plan, or eating at a restaurant and ordering your favorite meal rather than a salad with oil and vinegar. It may even look like a day or a weekend of overindulgence.

Those mistakes tend to take you to a place of guilt and somehow lead you to go completely off course where you see the pounds begin to pack back on and your motivation overshadowed by shame.

When you start leaning on God in your health journey and finding God’s grace you will begin to overcome the cycle of self-sabotage.

Instead of spiraling out of control, God’s grace will help you take each moment as an individual situation, explore the reasons you veered off course, and help you get right back on course.

Friend, mistakes aren’t terrible. They don’t have to mean failure.

It’s in your mistakes you learn to turn to God and grow. That growth gets you one step closer to your goals and one step closer to embracing the health and fitness blessings God has in store for you.

Seeing your mistakes as opportunities will help you lose the weight you want to lose, keep it off, and walk in complete weight loss freedom!
